As the hunting industry has grown, we have gotten away from the basic reasons why we hunt. Hunting shows don't seem to show the true story of the hunt anymore. It's not about the score or size of the animal, it’s about the process; the process of exploring the land, hunting the animal, and eating the animal you harvest.

This is the way the legends of the industry did it before our time; legends such as Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Teddy Roosevelt, Jim Bridger, Aldo Leopold, and the great Fred Bear.

About The Writer

Hello everyone, for those of you that don’t know me, my name is Steven Crawford Jr. I’m from the small town of Middleville, Michigan about 30 miles south of Grand Rapids. I graduated from Thornapple Kellogg High School, and from there I went on to Aquinas College in Grand Rapids where I played baseball and earned degrees in Business Administration, Sport Management, and Communications. Today I work as territory manager for a leading Dental Manufacturing company called Coltene. I also work as a freelance professional outdoor writer, and am Founder, producer, and the host of Chasing Legends Hunting blog, podcast, and YouTube Channel.

My passion for the outdoors started at a very young age, as my father started taking me hunting with him when I was three years old. As the years went on and I watched more sunrises from the treestand, my passion for the outdoors grew as I continually learned how to be a true sportsman and appreciate Gods beautiful creation.

Ten years ago, I joined Michigan Whitetail Pursuit as a prostaff member and I still am to this day. Working with Michigan Whitetail Pursuit, I’ve been fortunate to meet and connect with many in the outdoor industry over the years. I have absolutely nothing against many outdoor tv shows and personalities, as they work their tails off everyday to promote and recruit new people to the fabulous world of the outdoors. However, I think many hunting shows have gotten away from the basic reasons why we hunt and fail to show the whole story, and just show the hunt and not the whole process that goes into it.

For that reason, I have started Chasing Legends. Hunting is much more than just killing an animal. I want to bring the whole process to you through blog posts, podcasts, and videos. Not just the hunt, but the process of exploring the beautiful landscape, strategically hunting the game, and finally the reason why we hunt the game; EATING the game that we harvest. The whole process that was taught to us by the legends of our industry. Let the Chase Begin.
